MyTube: Watch YouTube Without Ads on Android

MyTube is a free Android app that plays YouTube videos with no ads. It also does the things the mobile site will not: audio keeps playing with the screen off, video pops out over other apps, and anything you save is watchable offline. Why an app, when this site already downloads videos
They solve different halves of the same annoyance. YouTubePrint gets a file onto your device so you can keep it, edit it, or watch it with no signal. MyTube is for the times you just want to watch without a mid-roll landing in the middle of a sentence.
If you mostly save videos, the site is still the right tool and nothing changes. If you mostly watch on a phone, the app is the better fit.

Permissions, and why that is the part worth checking
An app that plays video has no reason to read your contacts, your photos, or your location. MyTube asks for none of them. You do not have to take that on trust either: the Play Store listing shows the full permission list before you install anything, and it is the first thing worth looking at on any app in this category.
What it does not do
Worth being straight about, because every app in this space claims everything:
- It is Android only. There is no iPhone version.
- It cannot show private or paid content. Anything that needs a YouTube login or a purchase stays out of reach, because the app does not sign you in.
- It is not a YouTube Premium replacement. No YouTube Music, no offline sync across devices, no channel support going to creators.
- Age-restricted videos may not play, for the same reason: no sign-in.

Is MyTube free?
Yes. It is free on Google Play with no subscription and no account. The app does not sign you into YouTube, so there is nothing to pay for and nothing to register.
What permissions does MyTube ask for?

Does it work on iPhone?

How is this different from YouTube Premium?
Premium is a paid YouTube subscription that removes ads, adds background play and YouTube Music, and supports creators through your subscription fee. MyTube is a free player that removes ads and adds background and picture-in-picture play, but it has no music service, no cross-device sync and no creator payments.
Can it play age-restricted or private videos?
No. The app does not sign you into a YouTube account, so anything requiring a login stays unavailable. That is the trade-off for not asking you for credentials.
